On the first day, following an 8 hour flight from Columbus, we headed for central Rome. We were able to visit some of the city's most famous landmarks, such as the Piaza Navona, The Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps! I learned that the Trevi Fountain was constructed in 19 B.C by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa and takes its name from a virgin woman that roman soldiers met when they were tired and thirsty. The woman proceeded to lead them to a water source. After visiting central rome and being bombarded with merchants in the street, we took the bus to the Ariston Hotel in the coast city of Grosetto. Next to the hotel was a beautiful body of water that we enjoyed watching the sunset by. It was truly beautiful first day!
