All over and done I think that this opportunity to travel to Italy with my choir impacted me much more than I thought it would. After this experience, I am much more interested in travelling and exploring the world with the people I love. I feel like I am now much more aware and appreciative of detail, inspired to cook real food, and much more engaged in every single choir piece we sing in Symphonic. I feel like since the trip, I have changed into a more open-minded, eager to learn individual. I've also developed so many friendships and other relationships through this experience with not only those in choir and in Darby but I've also learned more etiquette of international relating. The trip has inspired me to break language barriers and geological barriers and make friendships with those outside of my country, taking opportunities to learn from them. I feel as if the world has become so much bigger since I've been to Italy, and it just makes me want to travel it all, creating bonds that will make the world seem a bit smaller, and make all of us seem a little less far from each other.
This was such a meaningful experience. I am so thankful I was able to travel outside of the country. Before this, I had always dreamed of going to Italy, especially due to my family's Italian heritage. So, this trip was very emotional for me. I've made some of my best friends on this trip who I can not even imagine life without now. This is an experience I will be able to tell my grandchildren. I think that Italy will always be in my heart, along with the people I was blessed to experience Her with. I gained historical, cultural, relational and even some interpersonal knowledge from this trip. I had to practice the skills of compassion, patience, perseverance, hard work, and love on this trip throughout various activities and events. If I had to start the experience over, I would bring 10 journals just so I cloud write down and learn as much information as possible, since it is hard to retain much of what I learned back in March. I would also dress A LOT warmer. It was freezing for most of the trip, but I was dressed for Spring! Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing! |
